USB in win95??

RU482

Lifer
OK, I'm home for the christmas season. I've been attacked with a barage of "my computer is doing this....do you think you could take a look at it?" type questions.

One is particular, is there a download that will allow a PC running Win95 to support USB? The PC has the physical ports, but the current version of 95 doesn't support USB.

Is there a patch that allows USB? can you download Win 95 OSR2, or is it like Win98 SE (a seperate upgrade product)

Thanks

There were actually two versions of Win95b, one with USB support (really just a patch) and one without. They're both separate products like 98SE. You would probably have to find a 95b CD with the USB support, as I don't know of any patches released by Micro$oft to enable USB in other versions of 95.

I have a later version of Win95 with USB support, but it was really poor performing. In all honesty I would just upgrade that PC to Win98 to get full functionality if the system will handle it.

There is a patch available for usb support in win95osr2, but it was not that reliable. It seemed to work ok with the bx chipsets. A lot of other machines blue screened with it installed though. Like mastertech said, go with w98 if possible.
