USB hub doesn't seem to be working

I signed up for a free deal in Hot Deals and recieved a 4 port hub. I plugged it in and attached my printer and camera to it. The camera charges off of it but Windows cannot connect to the camera and neither can the printer.

Anybody else get the free usb hub from Northrop Grumman ?

If a USB hub isn't self-powered, it's not worth the powder to blow it up. That being said, how do you expect us to give a useful answer with such little data to go on? Brand and model of hub (is it self-powered or no), brand and model of camera, brand and model of printer. What USB versions are they all compatible with?

It's not self powered, just a simple 4 port hub with a very short connector. Did a little research and apparently USB can be flaky itself and attaching scanners, cameras and USB hard drives to a hub makes the problems even worse. I was hoping to get my printers working on it.

Yeah, a decent brand, self-powered hub should work for you. And always remember: TANSTAAFL - things that are "free" are generally worth what they cost.

USB hubs really need their own power source to work effectively.
