USB Hub collision.

I have one of those cheapo $5 four sided USB hub and certain devices together results in a collision and disables everything connected to the hub until I disconnect the hub and reconnect it.

Is it just the nature of devices connected interecting or are not all USB hubs equal?

Samsung printer + keyboard = ok
Samsung printer + keyboard + epson printer w/ card reader = collision
Samsung printer + keyboard + digital camera = collision (tells me there's a problem with the driver, etc. etc. blah blah)

If I connect the digital camera to a USB port in the back (inconvenient) it works just fine.

Rule #1 when using USB hubs...use only selfpowered hubs..i.e. hubs with an external power supply. The rest are junk.

true to a point, its better to have a powered hub especially for desktops, but when using a notebook thats not always practical. many hubs can do both. I havent had any issues with my belkin either way except power overloads when running unpowered.
