Im having a USB problem that Im hoping somebody else has already seen and solved. I have a Thinkpad T41 which uses an Intel ICH4 which supports USB 2.0. However, when I plug in a USB 2.0 memory key into the system, I get the 'This device can perform faster' dialog and 'Hi-Speed USB Device attached To non-Hi-Speed Hub' window. The system is XP Pro with SP2. I have tried an identical machine with the same basic makup and it does NOT exhibit the same issue. I have tried reinstalling SP2, Ive compared driver version with the Thinkpad that works, I have removed the USB stuff and let in reinstall but to no avail. Nothing found on Microsoft knowledge base.

Anybody got any ideas?

Make sure USB2 support has been enabled in the thinkpads bios, You might be able to check the device manager and look at the USB devices to see if USB drivers are loaded. These are loaed when the machine supports USB2

The BIOS indicated USB enabled. The USB2 driver (24CD) is loaded along with three other USB drivers (24C2, C4 and C7) and 4 root hubs. Matches the identical Thinkpad that works OK right down to the version numbers.
