Yep. Look for updated drivers for your motherboard. Generally all the dirvers for the various parts of the motherboard are all bundled together so you may not find a driver just for the USB.

Windows drivers for XP SP1 and beyond should work. Check the USB setting in your BIOS. Enable USB 2.0 Controllers if they are not already enabled. Depending on your mobo, you may be able to configure USB 2.0 Controllers for HiSpeed (480 Mbps) or FullSpeed (12 Mbps) or LowSpeed. You want HiSpeed.

Look for "enhanced host controller" in your USB controllers in Device Manager to ensure you do have USB 2.0 controllers.

Microsoft USB FAQ

Good luck.

in some cases and makes of computers, the front USB are NOT 2.0, I dont think this is so much the case anymore, but for a couple years there manufacturers were doing this to cut back a bit of money. If your rig is even a couple years old, and you are using the front USB for those devices, try the rear and see if you get better results. If you are in the rear already, or if both are giving you same results, then it looks like its time for drivers.

That is certainly true about Dell computers. At least for the ones 3 or more years old. Front USB & USB ports on the side of the keyboard are USB 1.1 only
