System in sig below.
why is it that when I have a USB 1.1 device connected to any port of my PC (8 USB ports - 4 at back, 2 in front, 2 in brace) any USB 2.0 device I connect won't work? But if I only connect a USB 2.0 device in any of the ports alone, it works (at USB 2.0 speeds).
real example:
I use a D-Link G122 usb wifi adapter for my network. If I connect it while a USB 1.1 device is connected (like my joypad), it will only function at USB 1.1 speed.
If I only connect the usb wifi adapter (with no other USB 1.1 device connected) it works as USB 2.0...
Then when I connect a USB 1.1 device it is fine (I think)
But If I boot with both connected, (or any 1.1 device) the system can't connect to the USB 2.0 wifi adapter.
When I look into device manager I have three USB controllers: one USB EHCI (8 ports) and two USB OHCI (4 ports each). The EHCI is USB 2.0, while the OHCI is 1.1. note that I only have 8 physical ports.
I installed windows using a slipstreamed SP2, then installed the nforce mobo drivers, then usb drivers. I know I installed it in the correct order since I know if you install the mobo/usb drivers before SP1 or 2 then the USB won't work.
Help greatly appreciated.
