USB headsets cause game lag?

I just got Logitech G930 and remembered why I stopped using USB headsets. They cause me lag. Why would a USB headset cause me lag. Should I disabled my onboard sound if I am going to use USB headsets?

I have used 3 different USB Headsets(Corsair HS1, Logitech G930, Corsair 2100) and none have caused Lag. What are you System Specs?

Go thorough the motions, try a different USB port especially if you are using a front one, update your mobo drivers and headset drivers.

It might be because you are using USB 2.0 but I'm not sure of that. Try different ports like Puppie suggested. If it is because of USB 2.0, then a USB 3.0 card should solve the issue.

I recall back when I was on XP, I bought a USB headset from Radio Shack. (Gigaware)

After using it for a while, I found that one of my two cores on my CPU was running at 100%.

This was reproduceable.

I concluded that the in-built USB headset driver (I never installed any drivers), was buggy, and started eating kernel CPU time after a while.

I don't know if they ever fixed the bugs in the Win7 USB headset driver, or if they have the same bugs.

If it does have the same bug, I could easily see how it could give you lag.

I have G930s and have never noticed them causing lag. And they are USB 2, so USB 3.0 port shouldnt make a damn bit of difference.

Motherboard N68S3B. CPU AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.1GHz. 8GB RAM. Video card GeForce GTX 550 Ti.

Could you list the games that lag for you?

Maybe it isn't the headset and it's just your pc that's under powered or your internet connection is slow?
