USB headset vs. soundcard headset

Hi. Is there any any big difference between the headsets with USB, and headsets for a soundcard. Is the USB lower quality? Any comments.

The USB headset is less useful in that it can only be used on computers with USB ports. Headsets with mini stereo jacks can be used on any speaker port on any device, computers included.
