usb headset questions

I never used a headset before this week, I got the Sennheiser PC150 for playing Battlefield 2. Sound quality is good and all but going back and forth between the headset and my Klipsch 2.1's is a pain in the ass.

If I get a USB headset instead, does it automatically override the sound card? In other words, can I go back and forth between headset sound and desktop speaker sound just by plugging/unplugging the headset?

btw my soundcard is an Audigy 2ZS.

p.s.
I foolishly dumped a snapple into my keyboard so my keys are all fvcked up. now 🙁(((

Yes, you can pretty much plug the USB in to switch to headset sound, and unplug it to switch back to sound card speakers.

It takes a few seconds for the switch to take place. The only problem I noticed is that when the USB is plugged in/unplugged after the computer has booted into windows, volume control (on the keyboard, headset, etc.) doesn't work. Boot your machine with the sound device you want and volume control works fine.

What do you mean going back and forth?

Can't you set one of the Audigy2's jacks to be a headphone out (I've never owned one)

I don't think so, the output to 2.1 speakers is from the same jack that you plug the headphones into. So it's either speakers all the time or headphone all the time depending on what's plugged in.
