My Logitech USB Headset 250 is detected fine and everything by XP, but when I play sounds, they're so quiet that I can barely hear them. The volumes are all up and the headset is set as the primary output. Any ideas?

Hi, Since you are getting no replies here's my two cents - If you are plugging the earphones into the LINE OUT of the sound card you will not get much volume. The phones are usually 8 ohms and the output of the sound card is 600 ohms. A very poor match. Sound cards years ago output 8 ohms to run bare speakers and phones. Then they became 8 ohm and 600 ohms with two jacks. The 600 ohms is standard line level for amplified devices. Now they are only 600 ohms labeled LINE OUT. You will need an amplifier to use the phones. Good Luck, Jim

Hi again, Sorry about that. He did say they were USB. JP

Since he has the "USB" headphones, you do not connect it to the sound card, it connects to a normal USB port. There are no plugs to use on a normal sound card.

If you bought the headphones local, you might want to try a different pair, or there may be a setting for "boost" or something like that in the software/Windows. I can't recall what my friend did for his USB set, but he likes them. It allows a separate audio source so that he can use it for gaming.. voice comes through the headset, and game audio (effects, music etc) comes through his sound card/speaker setup.

Logitech offered to replace them for me, so I should get a new pair in 5-7 days. Thumbs up to Logitech.
