USB Hard Drive

I have a USB HDD that I use for backup. Inside my comp, the hard drives turn themselves off after being idle for and hour. How can I do the same with the USB disk? I'm not using any special drivers for it, just the ones that come built-in into Windows 2000.

Unless the drive itself can be set to go into a standby mode by its own firmware, there's no way. Check the drive mfr's site for a utility to do it. I know Fujitsu drives used to be able to do that themselves.
