Can someone recommend a good 1TB USB external drive for use with linux. We bought a few Seagate drives but they go into a power save mode and linux thinks they go bad and re-mounts them in read-only mode. so now out linux admin has asked me to find something better. Thanks!

What distro/kernel rev are you running? I remember fiddling with that a bit back when I got a 500G Seagate FreeAgentDesktop drive and I thought I had a script or udev rule to set allow_restart for that device but looking around my machine I don't see it now and my machine still waits for it to spinup whenever it sleeps.
