If I need a printer cable is there any difference between a gold USB cable and a "regular" one? Aren't printers too slow to even except a regular USB transfer rate? Just wanting facts. ;)

bah...just buy the cheapest one. If you were running HT equipment with THX Ultra etc then Gold does something, but for a printer? Will your colors look better? haha NO!

Thanks, thats what I figured. I work at a major electronics retailer and we are told to push the gold cables but I have been giving customers the regular kind instead. Just wanted to make sure that I wasn't ripping them off. I like to be honest and give them what they need. Thanks for the replies, makes me feel better.

They oughta tear your name tag off and march you out the back door. You're never going to make it in retail with an attitude like that!

no difference. marketing gimmick.

unless you are in a high corrosion environment. the pins are gold anyway. the outside is just for the shielding (ground).

i really love the "modem cables" that wal-mart sells. $20 for a phone line in an almuinum mesh cover. great deal.

Thats quite funny because they are probably going to do just that. But I know that I'm actually helping customers out that do *not* know what the hell they are buying. I can live with myself for that.
