USB Flash drive price increase?

Wow,

I bought 20 or so Crucial 4GB Flash drives during the summer for $~8 each.

Now they are at $14??

Anyone have some insight to this?

I want to get some real cheap for students to buy at cost since there aren't many stores around with them available, but it's hard to choke down that the cost went up ~40% in a couple of months. Is it just the Holidays driving up demand?

It's cyclical , memory prices will go down around April ...

It is cyclical, unfortunately the analysts are calling for a particularly long cycle this time around owing to the cratering in capex this year.

This is why I snatched up an 8gig Sandisk Cruzer @ $15 for Black Friday. I now have a 1gb, 4gb, and 8gb. Should be set until prices go back down.
