USB flash drive for booting Puppy Linux

I would like to create a bootable USB flash drive for booting puppy
Linux. Currently I boot from CDROM. Puppy Linux includes the
ability to create a bootable USB flash drive. I have a Kingston 1GB
"migo" flash drive - it includes some software that provdes easy
synchronisation of files on Windows.

I would like to know if this flash drive is likely to work for booting
Puppy Linux, and if it doesn't work, will it then also be unusable in
Windows? Can any USB flash drive be used to boot Linux?

Thanks

You will be more likely to find an answer over on the Puppy Linux site. Not all motherboards support booting from USB flash drives, and the drive must also be bootable for it to work. If you've got both, then there's a good chance it will work.

Boot up Puppy from a Live-CD, run through the USB drive installation wizard and give it a shot.

Well I tried it. Puppy Linux said it completed setting up the USB drive ok but it won't boot. My BIOS tells me that USB boot is enabled - I don't know if it actually works though. The Puppy linux installer had some more options to do with the master boot record but now Puppy Linux doesn't recognize the USB flash drive whn I plug it in - so I'm stuck. Darn.
