USB/firewire soundcard for Linux?

Can anyone here recommend an external soundcard that works under Linux? My M-Audio Audiophile just fried, and I'd like to replace it with something that actually works with the latest version of Mac OS. I'm not looking for mic inputs or MIDI - I just want a high-quality source for my headphones and, if possible, a 24/96 S/PDIF connection.

Linux or OS X? Because they're completely different at the kernel level.
