USB/FireWire/Fan Front panel question

I just bought one of these fron SVC and don't know how to connect the fron USB and Fire Wire connections.

I have a Adaptec DouConnect card with internl USB 2.0 and Fire Wire connection but the front panel has like 6 individual connection wires for the USB and another strand of 6 for the FireWire.

Will I need to buy a Firewire cable and cut/splice for the front panel to work???

It is made to plug directly into your motherboard (if you have onboard usb/firewire) or into you card. Incase you wondering what the usb connectors on the board/card would like Link . If you dont have any it would be your choice to either buy a card that does or splice some wires..

thanks for the info.

Since I have a relatively old board I don't have those connections but I know I can buy just the connectors and splice it on to the end and then simply use a USB or Firewire extension wire to connect the card to the adapter.

I wonder if that would work????
