ok..

so i setup this really sweet looking laptop i salvaged for my sister its got great sound , a 7.1 sound card, and a digital/cam tuner. she is off to the races. But a caveat...

im looking for a solution to a aesthetics issue mainly.

She had a crash 2 weeks ago and it fried the internal drive so i added a tiny iomega brushed aluminum usb drive, it doesn't require a Y-Cable however the only real way to stop frequent slowdowns after hours of use is to make this option-able.

Connected to the dell d620 laptop on the far right corner is a black JBL speaker that is bus powered and the black brushed aluminum usb 2.0 backup drive.
As it stands right now the drive is connected via a 6 ft standard 28 gauge mini usb to usb 2.0 cord. And its literally resting inside of the opened DVD-RW drive.

The setup is actually very astute the way it is now, however i would like to get a circuit breaker for other usb peripherals possibly wireless and with no hanging wires to shut them down when not in use.

I would also eventually ofcoars like to close up that drive and get some kind of extender stand (maybe a hard capped usb hub?) that is raised for the drive to sink in to.

Spent the better part of the day looking for a simple USB Female to USB Male wireless circuit breaker without any luck. You would think that someone would have put out something like this yet ? but nope.

Anyways im open to all ideas, the goal now is to either find a Y-Cable with a usb pass through port and on/off switch or a hub/breaker combo that can do that job for it.

Kind regards,

First off... What?

Secondly... Pictures please, as my brain hurts trying to figure out what you're trying to explain.

wireless circuit breaker?

Edit: You might be able to make one yourself out of dehydrated water.

The OP wants a relay that can cut the power to USB devices, controlled wirelessly. I have a device from Radio Shack that does this for AC power.

That is easily done by someone familiar with electronics. I don't know of any devices for sale in retail but all that is needed is a relay to switch the AC power with the relay powered off a USB port. USB port goes dead, relay opens, AC power turns off.
