USB FAX/Data Modems?? (Solved)

Hi.

Recently had big mess trying to install some older PCI cards in my desktop running W7 to FAX, tho I need to FAX only very occasionally.

I finally gave up and got out my old stand alone FAX machine.

Has anyone here had first hand experience with USB fax/Data modems? Esp anyone running Windows 7?

I delved online and these get very mixed, so confusing reviews.

Thanks!

I can not say that I have seen them around any more. They started fading away about the time the all in one printers came long with inbuilt modems (the cheap ones still needing the PC on anyway to receive/send faxes).

Finding them I would think would be as hard as finding USB floppy drives (that was a fun time). As to reviews for them, it is probably like usb floppy drives, buy and try is the best option.

Now days I think if people need to send faxes they use the post office / work or the Fax over VoiP setup that some VoiP companies offer. Locally even officeworks and some other shops/stores also offer faxing services.

Hi.

Well, believe it or not, they, the USB modems, are all over the net! Which is why I asked.

But, I was just reminded, after having dug out and used my good (but maybe incendiary) FAX machine for the first time in years.....how flawlessly it works. So I think anytime I need to FAX, I will just get it out.

I only use stand alone and never multifunction.

Thanks for your input!
