USB external drive for video recorder (NTFS to FAT32)

At 500gb external drive WDPassport I have about half the tv recordings or avi files. It is formatted to NTFS, which cannot read Sony VCR. It can only FAT32. Can be convert the disk to FAT32 without data loss or the need to back up? FAT32 drives have a problem with the size of 40GB, as I found out. Can anyone help?
thanks
Peter

Do you have videos exceeding 4GB in size? If so, FAT32 will not work. Your device will need to support exFAT, since nobody supports NTFS. I'm not sure what, if anything does NTFS to exFAT conversion.

If all <4GB files, then Partition Magic, at the least, can convert NTFS to FAT32. There's also Aomei NTFS to FAT32 Converter, but I've never tried it.
