USB Extention Cords - Bad?

I want to move my Rig to the other side of my desk and my printer and scanner cannot be moved. Is it safe to use USB Extention cords without any problems? Can they effect the transmission value from any USB devices? And is there a limit you can go in feet? I think they come standard in 6 and 10 foot lengths.

Thanks

Mark

Signal quality may degrade a small bit with the 10 footer but not by much and if you have to move it you have to move it, right? :)

Yes you can extend the cables on USB up to 5 meters (officially) without any problems and if you want them longer then a Hub must be put between the exceeded distance (as many as you want)...I have by past the hub and tried items (for kicks and giggles) without the Hub past 15 meters with no problems ;)
