USB enclosure for 3.5" 200GB drive

I'm looking at the Thermaltake SilverRiver enclosure -- separate ps, and a fan, but more expensive than some from bytecc. Can I run this drive off my laptop's usb power? Any reason not to? Also: with an aluminum no-fan case, do I need to worry about heat?
