USB does NOT DETECT OPTICAL MOUSE after changing CPU from 1050 to 1400Mhz!

Thats right! I have an Intellimouse Optical on my Epox 8K7A. It was recently that I discovered that I needed to manually change my FSB from 100 to 133 in the BIOS if I was to have my CPU running at it's full 1400Mhz. But guess what? After I change that, my USB optical mouse is no longer detected, but will only detect a PS/2.

I went into the Integrated Peripherals in the BIOS and ENABLED USB Mouse Support, and USB Keyboard Support. Someone told me that I should enable USB Legacy, but there is no such option in the entire list, and I checked and double checked. I called MS tech support, and he thinks there could be something wrong with my motherboard, but he recommended that I reflash the latest BIOS.

Some body please help me with this issue. What must I do to properly configure my USB port to understand my Mouse once the FSB is set to the original 1400Mhz???

(Note: I know that the problem lies with the FSB, because I tried changing it back a few times to 100 (1050Mhz), and it always detects my USB mouse at that setting, but not at 133)

Also, someone told me to try doing it by putting all 5 dipswitches to OFF on my motherboard, but when I checked, all 5 were already down on off.

Isn't there something to do with "jumpers" that I have to do as well?

Patience, GrassHopper! Some of us needed our afternoon naps!

I have an 8k7A. Looking at the manual, dip switch SW2 controls the multiplier, not the bus frequency. All 5 off means use the processor default multiplier. Good.

CPU clock select is controlled by JCLK1. It defaults to jumper on pins 1-2 for 100 Mhz bus. You want it on pins 2-3 for 133 Mhz bus.

I wonder if when you changed the clock in the bios, you may have overclocked the PCI bus. That would make the USB ports unusable. Anyone know? (I don't overclock, haven't touched the bios setting).

You should change the jumper, maybe reset the bios, and see how that works.

Now back to my nap...

Could be an 8k7a issue. I had a little trouble with my logitech, so I just use the PS2 adapter.
