USB disk write-protect error

My UMAX Apus 208 128MB USB Flash Disk is giving a strange error. It does not let me copy anything on it or format it by saying "Disk is write protected". This is strange because the "UMAX Apus 208 128MB USB Flash Disk" does not have any means of physical write-protection. The disk did not come with any utilities either. What can be done?
