USB disk error

Hi everyone,
I have a problem with a Toshiba store alu 1.5 TB USB 2.0 disk.

I noticed immediately that the disk was very slow when I tried to do a full ntfs format: after nine hours it was at about 50%, this can't be normal.

Anyway, I did a quick format and started using the drive, but it's still very slow.

I checked the S.M.A.R.T. parameters with CrystalDiskInfo, but everything was fine.

Often, when I turn on the disk, a few identical errors pop up in event viewer: Event 11, disk “the driver has detected a controller error on \Device\Harddisk1\DR1” (screenshot included, sorry for Italian)

Any ideas on how to fix this problem?

Thanks in advance.

1. change enclosure.
2. change usb wire (too long/poor quality)
3. reduce load count on usb bus.

Is the port on the computer USB2? Many times there is a mix, with only 1 or 2 actually USB2.

Can't change enclosure on that disk, but I found an old usb disk (with its own usb cable) and that's working fine.
I'm not sure I understand what you mean on point 3, but if you're saying that I should disconnect other usb devices, I already did that. The usb drive was the only usb device connected at the moment.

No, the usb ports are all 2.0. (I also tried connecting the disk to other usb ports, but nothing changed.)

I think the problem is on the Toshiba (since my old 250GB usb disk has no problems). The disk is brand new, tomorrow I'll bring it back and get another one.
