USB Disconnects

I have a Netgear WG121 (802.11g USB 2.0) plugged into my PC. It randomly "unplugs" itself at different intervals. Sometimes it 3 times a minute, sometimes once in 6 hours. It makes the windows sound for unplugging the device, then plugs back in. Anyway to fix this without a format/reinstall?

Sometimes it happens with a thumbdrive that I have too. I venture to say it's the USB system, not the devices.

So to update this thread, I tried switching off the ability to turn off each port to save power, but to no avail. I bought a USB 2.0 powered hub and plugged in some devices to that, and all worked fine...for about a week. Now it's doing it again and disconnecting the hub. Any ideas?
