USB Dirver Replacement in XP

In my infinite wisdom I mistakenly installed 98 USB printer drivers in XP, which overwrote the existing drivers and, oh, don't work.

Does anybody know how to reinstall the USB printer port drivers in XP without reinsalling the whole OS?

Right now XP does not know there is any such port as USB for printers. Everything else works fine on the USB ports.

Thanks

If you rename all OEM*.INF and OEM*.PNF files found in c:\windows\inf (say, move them all to a c:\windows\inf\old directory), reboot, and then plug in your USB cable (with your printer on it) what happens?

dclive,
Thanks for the info on the USB printer problem I was having. I did what you said and in the process found that the "USBPRINT.INF" file had the wrong extension, "IN" instead of "INF" so I took out all of the "OEM*.INF" files, renamed the USBPRINT file rebooted and all works fine.

thanks again,

Peter🙂
