I've been using a corsair voyager 1gb USB flash drive for about a year now. When i plug into my USB port of my pc, i get a windows message stating

USB Device not Recognized
USB device attached to this computer has malfunctioned. And windows does not recognize it.

I usually have the flashdrive attaced to my key, so could have messed up because i;ve shaken/dropped it alot? doesnt appear physically damaged.

It's probably toast. I have a 512mb cruzer micro on my keychain with no cap on the USB port and it's been submerged in the river, dropped, chewed on by my dog, and all around abused and it still works great.

The thing you wanna look for is a drive that is sealed pretty well. Any drive with a hollow feeling plasticy body is doomed.

This is the original drive I have, see how the entire thing is sealed in plastic?
The original cruzer micro I have

This one with the retractable connector looks cool but leaved the insides exposed to the elements.

Regardless USB drives can fail, make sure you have copies of everything still on your main pc.
