USB controller card question/problem

Hey guys whats up? I'm having a problem hooking up my controller card up to my new motherboard. Can you guys tell me which plugs go where .

Where should I put the Ground, VCC, +D, and -D cables so that the motherboard will recognize them?

by using your first picture from left to right it would be all on one row

Ahoy mate,

What's this "controller card" ye be yakkin' about? Arrrr ye yakkin' aboot the front ports panel or sumpin else. IAC, the mobo should have markin's on it sayin' which of the connections be USB 0, USB 1, etc. Each row o' pins is a separate port - ye can connect them connectors to any free port. Yarrr... The D be meanin' Data line, Vcc be meanin' Collector Voltage (+5V), the rest be obvious. The circled numbers be meanin' that's Port 1 of whatever that cable is connected to. I be usin' some Scots' tape or hot glue once I have those loose contacts lined up the way I wants 'em ta hold 'em tagether, sos I can connect/disconnect the buggers all ta once. Them loose connectors be a pain in the bum. Yarrr...

I had exactly the same problem matching up the external USB port pins on my Asus P4PE mobo. It was a 2-row header on the mobo.

This is how it went:

The general rule is L-R,+.-.+.- with power at either end. It ended up like this:

ist Header:
Top Row: USB=5vdc; LP5-;LP5+; GND; NC
Bottom Row: VCC1; Data-1;Data+1;GND1; Shield

2nd Header:
Top Row: USB+5vdc;LP4-;LP4+;GND
Bottom Row: VCC2; Data-1-;Data+2;GND2

After I got it all working, I mapped the colors of the port leads as follows: (Thermaltake case - yours may be different. It helps to make a chart or take a picture when finished)

VCC1 -: Black
Data-2: Yellow
Data+2: Blue
Data+1: White
Data-1: Green
GND1: Brown
GND2: Orange
VCC2: Red
Shield: Black

Too bad they just don't put these in a standard 9-pin block

BTW - the device you are referring to is not the USB Controller card - it is simply a USB port carrier, and the picture says it is for the backplane.
