USB -> COM2 Converter, Uice and remote controller headache

Situation;
1. USB to RS232 (Com2) adapter in USB port. Drivers installed.
2. Packard Bell Fast Media Remote Controller attached to Com2 (converter), no drivers needed.
3. uICE, softare to read the remote from a serial port. Works in my normal COM1 port on the motherboard, but when using the USB -> RS232 adapter (which I want since I will soon get a new mobo without any serial ports, but want to keep using the remote), uICE spits out the following error; PFBMedia.ddl - A required driver is not running. Probably the software is not properly installed.

I have verified that the adapter works, by connecting an old serial mouse to it and used it (yikes, they are no fun at all).

Any suggestions?

Where do you live? Packard Hell has been gone from the states for years. Use a PCI card serial port instead of a USB cable port. Newegg has a triangular shaped serial card that looks like the one that CompUSA sold (may still sell) as their store brand - those worked well for me. Or else get a more modern remote that is USB native.

Sweden, and Packard Bell are still available here (some computers and some peripherals). Though I only have the remote control, to control winamp and bsplayer with (Packard Bell Fast media remote).

Well, I thought I would try to avoid a PCI card that eats up yet another IRQ, so if I could get this working, it would be sweet.
However, I can not find any reason to why uICE do not want to work with that particular COM port.

I have been looking for USB remotes, but nof found any that will work with uICE. There are not that many remotes to choose from in the online stores over here either.

That I know. But I still prefer to avoid the potential trouble of having yet another card that uses an IRQ. It might be the final option though, but I still need to try to get the USB -> RS232 adapter working. And somehow, the problem seem to be with uICE, since the port works for a serial mouse.
Anyone here that has much experience with uICE?
