As long as the charger conforms to USB specs, there should be little or no risk. Personally, I prefer to use the quick chargers that come with each device. They are significantly faster than USB and perfectly matched to their own device.

Mine isn't even that swag. Its just a plug with a USB port in it.
I think you're safe.

Yeah I just wanted to avoid a Christmas Tree on my PDU. This way, one outlet = 5 devices and also no worrying about which one of the wires has 500ma, 1A , 2A or beyond. The PDU's fed from a UPS so it's conditioned power but I was wondering what could go wrong on the unit itself above and beyond a 'proper' vendor supplied USB charger.

Does your UPS actually condition power? Regular consumer ones don't. They simply pass through outlet power and then switch to battery if it cuts off

I don't have 'regular consumer ones'.

as I said it's not so much the power I'm concerned about, although I guess it would be if I plugged it in elsewhere. It's how the UNIT might fail.

I bought one of them off of Amazon.com. Ports began failing. They sent me a new one. Ports are now failing.
