USB card reader + cellphone not working in XP

I recently got a new Sony Ericsson cellphone that came with a USB cable. The guy also threw in a USB 4 in 1 card reader with it. The card reader's menu said it uses generic drivers and does not need anything installed, and the SE cellphone's driver was installed with it's own CD.

When i plug in the card reader, XP detects 4 generic reader usb device, and under Properties -> Populate, i can see the flash card 'online', and the memory size of the card. However, under My Computer, the card reader doesn't show up, no drive is assigned. Same thing when i connect my cellphone, it detects the card, even shows how much free space, but no drive is assigned, and i can't see the files in it.

1) I've tried assigning a drive letter (g:, m:, z:) to it under Manage -> Disk Mangement, but i still don't see it in My Computer
2) I've looked under Device Manager to look for conflicts, but none appeared.
3) The motherboard supports USB2.0 as it was activated in the BIOS

Any help will be much appreciated!

What cellphone do you have? I acquired a SE k750i, got a similar problem originally. After a deep research, I had to download some updates and patches for the computer to actually recognize and brand not only the device, but the actuall USB plug as well.

It's the w800i. When I plug it in, i can see at Device Manager -> USB controllers that 'Sony Ericsson w800' is added.

Which updates/patches did u download? I'm thinking it's a Windows/USB problem and not a SE problem since the cellphone and the card reader are having the same problem. I've already tried the USB driver downloaded at SE's website.

Turns out i CAN access the phone's internal memory, but NOT the memory stick pro though. I see the phone's internal memory through Sony's File Manager. Still no drive letter assigned, still can see the card under Disk Manager, still can't access it. Help!

Dang... well, its basically the same cellphone hardware, but different firmware. And the fact that you can see the internal memory is weird.
I remember the disk not helping at all, downloaded the drivers from the website as you did... There is some weird keypad combination that I dont remember. Something like... before plugging the USB cord, press and hold the "C" button in the cellphone and then turn it on. Sorry that I cant be of more help... will look for more info.
