USB: Can a USB hub be used on both PC and iMac?

Confused

Elite Member
A friend wants to know if they can use a normal USB hub on both a PC and an iMac.

I think it is possible, as USB is a universal standard, but PC World is selling both a USB hub for PC and a USB hub for iMac! Are they the same thing or are the two different?

Thanks in advance

Yes. USB is a universal standard, and that's all that matters. The only reason for the "difference" is probably because the iMac one is painted differently.

Hardwarewise - no difference at all. My Belkin USB 2 hub is PC or Mac. Just different drivers.

Just as a side note, the only reason Corky would need drivers is because it's for USB 2. Both MacOS and Windows have built-in support for USB 1.1 hubs.
