Usb-c otg cable question

There are problems with cheap usb-c cables, but does that also apply to usb-c otg adapters/cables?
From what I think, those otg adapters are just dumb devices and should not be a problem right?

1. Dont trust The Verge on anything.
2. Any usb c cable you buy on amazon that has 4* reviews should work for you
3. Yes they are dumb devices but if you buy a cable from the dollar store you will likely get one with very low amperage that has a hard time charging your device and carrying data consistently, more so for long ones; so dont buy supercheap stuff.
