USB Bootable

I would like to know which current laptop BIOSes support booting via USB port? - That would include external floppy drives and/or flash memory drives.

I checked with Dell, and they said that ALL of their current laptops support USB Boot. Checking others, there are some Toshibas that do and also HP. Apparently many still do not.

I believe that should be a major consideration for buying any laptop these days. CD ROM boot is not always practical in some maintenance situations.

At least some IBMs do. I've done it without trouble on my t42, and given IBMs enthusiasm for image compatibility it wouldn't suprise me if all boxes of the same vintage(and probably those of the prior generation as well) can manage the trick.
