Hello all, I'm trying to diagnose why my gf's computer isn't holding on to the bluetooth in Skype conversations. When we talk, sometimes it'll happen immediately, where Skype will switch to a wired mic away from her bluetooth headset, and she'll have to switch it back to the headset in the Skype options. Sometimes then it'll just work. Other times it won't take hold, and will immediately disconnect the headset again a few seconds later, and after getting pissed off with 16 reconnects of the adapter, will restart her computer. This will make it go for a few hours before it'll do it again. Though sometimes after the restart it'll still act up and we'll have to just eat the minutes her cell uses instead. Other times like today, everything works fine for a good while. 2hr and 35min. to be exact today. Then it started acting up again, and after 8 times of going back into the options and saying to use the headset, gave up on it.

I don't know how this will be affected on her new computer I'm building her this xmas, the new computer will be Vista Ultimate, Phenom Quad, 4GB RAM.

Her current system is a Gateway. P4 1.6Ghz, 256MB Ram, Windows XP. The adapter is the Azio USB Bluetooth adapter. http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16833340002

My current theory is that i notice the device says 2.0. Her computer is USB 1.1. The adapter works just fine on my server (USB 2.0 AMD X2 4800+ and XP Pro), my laptop (USB 2.0 T7200 Vista Ultimate), my bro's laptop (USB 2.0 T7000 Vista Ultimate), and my bro's gf's desktop (Core 2 Vista Ultimate). So Maybe she needs a 2.0 card? If that's it I'll just wait till she gets her new system next month, though i'll tell her i'm getting an upgrade card (she thinks i'm repairing the computer for her for xmas, doesn't know she's getting an all new one ;) ).

Any other theories on the problem guys? Using Plantronics Voyager 200 and Motorola H500 headsets on these adapters with no problems except for hers. She uses an H500 like me.

Sounds like Skype is using the windows default settings. If the Bluetooth set isn't set as defualt in Window's sound control panel then skype will keep flipping it on you. So you can either disable skype from using windows default or change the default.

We have her sound set up to use the bluetooth device. For both speaker and mic in Skype calls. However her mic is switching from the bluetooth mic to the mic she has plugged into the back of her sound cards mic part just on a whim. We have to go back into the skype options and change it from the mic in her soundcard back to the bluetooth. And then it will merrily switch again on a whim. The sound also switches to her windows default output (which is a cable running to her shelf system.)
