USB 1.1 and 2.0 - 1394a and 1394b
What are the connection/cabel types
Im also having a really fun time figuring out the power ratings for them.
Help me out, or point me to a site with this info

USB is 0.5 amps.
1394 varies for power by controller and cable, I think. I've read that the minimum supported should be 2A, but can't be 100% on that.

What do you mean by the connectors and cables?
 
One thing you could try is looking for connectors at electronics parts websites, and checking any datasheets they may have linked.
 
Good luck. FW definitely has the Apple feel to it. USB I was able to Google on up. FW, calling it firewire or just 1394, got lots of explanations on how it worked, and how great it was (which, really, it is), but very little actual, useful, info.
