That seems very odd as every AMD AM4 chipset supports UASP. Which external drive are you using? Also, be aware support from both controller and external drive is required for this functionality.

i am using Samsung touch t7 1TB using USB-c I get 700MB/s transfer not 1050 like Samsung claims
I had an email from Asus support and they said the motherboard port I am using does not support usap that's why my speed is stuck at 700
device manager storage controllers show usap
and the PCIe card I have looked at supports usap

Could simply be the USB cable. I tested a bunch of different cables looking for the best speeds and landed on https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07X4GQ1SS/ as the best option for me at least. They're nice and sturdy with a good feel to the sheathing. Been using them for a couple of years now for a variety of things from charging to data. Another one I is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B093FQSYLB/ .

Cheap cables make for a bad day unless you're only using them to charge / power a device then looking for 100W cables vs data is more important. I use a cheaper 10' cable for my Chromecast to power it as data isn't important since it's WIFI.

well you could be right about cable I had a 10 MB/s cable and a 20 MB/s cable switched and seem to have fewer problems but I read on google that long USB-c cables can cause disconnects so ordered 1m cable and going to try to mod my case to fit front USB-c
Asus support emailed me and informed me that the motherboard port I am using does not support usap this is why my speed is 700 MB/s instead of 1050 MB/s as claimed by Samsung
usap shows in device manager storage controllers

You can dig up the specs with the MOBO model number. Chances are it does support UASP though if the CPU is recent.

The 1M cables should yield up to 20gbps w/ a 3.2 2x2 card / port so, you should be able to get better speeds if it's a quality cable. I think most get confused by the C connection thinking it's always going to be a 10gbps connection but, they can be wired as low as USB2 @ 40mbps and most hit 5gbps unless you find 10gbps / 20gbps / 40gbps cables specifically. Same goes for charging as you need a USB-A to get higher charging on some devices because of how they're wired internally.

I got a USB-C cable w/ a DC plug on the other end for charging my laptop on the go that has a chip in the USB end that triggers 100W charging. I had to try a couple of different cables / USB-PD plugs to get things to work properly but, it does and even can charge from a power bank as well which works like a bigger 2nd battery on the go.

well I bought a PCIe card now wth USB E and it supports UASP so I will see which gives me the best speed also Samsung specs say 10 Gbps so probably cable is a bit ott

tried new 10 MB/s 1metre cables from the rear of the computer and short USB-c cable as supplied by Samsung with touch but no change starts at 1300 then after 10 secs drops to 700 on both cables

Samsung claims T7 10 MB/s connection but 2 SSD 1TB AND 2TB 4 firecuda 530 7300 MB/s and sabrient rocket 4000MB/s
touch t7 used to disk test at 6000 MB/s but firmware update now 1000 MB/s no reply of Samsung forum

I was eyeing up 20gbps cards before picking a case that has a C port on the top.

For enclosures though it's a mixed bag of reviews still. Highest reviews though seem to stick with the ASM2364 chipset. As for the Samsung T drives I haven't really looked into them since I have M2's that can go in enclosures sitting around.

I should pick up a 20gbps enclosure though to test the port but, only my server has a 20gbps header at this point and the laptop doesn't so it'd be a one sided test ./ use at this point. Waiting to see what the ADL laptop specs are before moving on it.

well my pci-e card is 20 mb/s and I have a 2 meter cable that is 20 mb/s but my t7 is 10 mb/s so might not see any speed increase wonder how they claim 1050 mb/s
that site I found said 3.1 gen 2 700 is normal or wait for USB 4

All of the numbers are theoretical and depend on end to end data speeds. 2M cables aren't ideal though for the highest speeds. Heat is the other factor to deal with for the controller to hit those speeds you need good heat abatement.

well I have a 1M cable and a very short Samsung cable but these are 10MB/s speed
but I think the bottleneck is USB type E this is 3.1 and t7 touch gets warm other users complained about the heat or did you mean motherboard controller
