Back in the USB 2.0 days, NEC was the chipset to get on add-on PCI cards. It's performance and compatibility were way better than VIA and especially ALi. Same situation with USB 3.0 chipsets?

I think there are other chipsets but I recently ordered one of these with the NEC chipset from eBay for 10.50 shipped.

Just received it Friday and I haven't yet put it in.

I received mine today. It came in an envelope and inside the envelope was a laptop "Cardbus Express" card box. Inside the smashed box was the PCIe USB card with a small driver disk. I had to bend the backplate to get it to fit properly but I hooked it up and it works just fine. Make sure to plug in the floppy power

Edit: Just remember when you are plugging a USB device into it, the plug is positioned upside down.

I ordered mine 10-19-11 and New Harbor supposedly shipped the card out on 10-21-11 and here it is 10-29-11 and I still have no card. It was supposedly sent via USPS and there is no tracking info available on Amazon.com! The kicker is that it says ships from NJ and I'm in southern VA, less then 500 miles away and still no card 8 days later... Anyone else order one of these and not received it yet? They are def getting negative feedback from me for slow shipping and not using a tracking number, I've never ordered anything lately that atleast didn't have some kind of USPS delivery confirmation number or something...

I'm in the same boat as you. Card was shipped out 10-21-11. The estimated received date range is 10/26 - 11/10. Pretty ridiculous. I'm just north of DC. Still no card.

I got it 11-4-11, they didn't ship when they said they did, and don't provide tracking info but I got it and its working, i had to install the drivers and uninstall and install again to get it to work though, not sure why!
