USB 3.0 Passthrough Question

I have the Corsair Obsidian 650D. The front panel USB 3.0 ports use a passthrough that plugs in the I/O on the motherboard. I would like to avoid using the passthrough method. My Gigabyte motherboard came with a USB 3.0 3.5" front bay bracket. This plugs directly into the USB 3.0 front panel header on the motherboard. Unfortunately the Obsidian only has 5.25" front drive bays.

My question is can I plug the USB passthrough cables into the Gigabyte front bay bracket and then plug that into the motherboard. Quite a jackleg, but would it enable the Obsidian's front panel USB 3.0 ports?

Yes you can, I'm doing something similar in my 800D.

I disassembled the motherboard adapter to minimize the size and was able to hide it in the cable run area behind the motherboard.

It's a bit of a hack but it's better than cables going outside your machine to plug in.

You could also do something like this:

Far more elegant I think.

Viper GTS

Great! Exactly what I was looking for. Thanks.
