USB 3.0 on the 2011 MBP?

I have the Feb '11 release MacBook Pro 13" with the i5... MC700LL/A

Is the USB port 2.0 by hardware, or would a software update make it 3.0 compatible?? Im getting conflicting answers.

It's USB 2.0 by hardware. The Intel 6-series chipsets do not support USB 3.0 and it has no other USB controller on-board.

A Thunderbolt to eSATA adapter would be a welcome product.

I just bought a USB2.0/3.0 drive, and was hoping to take advantage of the 3.0 speeds. Oh well, guess i will have to wait for a TB->USB3.0 adapter like TheStu said
