USB 3.0 on board question

I have the Antec 302 case and it has 2 x USB 3.0 front ports on the case. If I get a Mobo that doesn't have an onboard 3.0 (Only 2.0) does that mean I can't use these at all, or that they will simply run at downgraded speed of 2.0 instead?

Wasn't sure if the plug in connection is the same or not.

Plug connection for 2.0 is different to 3.0.

You can purchase an adapter to connect your front 3.0 panel to your 2.0 onboard connection. My Corsair Carbide 500R came with such an adapter as standard.

I saw an adapter was around $15-$20, does that sound right? If so, i'll opt for a better mobo I guess.

I'm from the UK and have never had the need to look for an adapter so can't be of much use here.

I'd throw an email or a call to your case manufacturer. They might be giving out adapters or give you a heads up on where to pick up one for cheaper.
