USB 3.0 Hub

I want to get a USB 3.0 hub, I have a usb 3p port on my desktop.

I was wondering if I get a usb2 hub and plug in 2 usb 2 drives would the transfer speed be half for each drive? that's the reason why I want to get a usb3 hub, so that when transferring from 2 usb 2 drives and an sd card the speeds won't slow down

Most USB 3.0 devices are slower than the actual protocol itself, so I wouldn't say that speeds on a USB 3.0 hub are halved immediately, just shared.

Thanks for the reply, I know what you mean, and what you said above I assume applies to Usb 2.0 as well, however, I have 3 high speed usb 2 drives that have a write speed if about 15-17megabytes, and those and a class 10 SD card would get pretty slow.

Also, I saw usb 3 hubs for $15 but no SD card slot
