Everyone knows that it exists on the desktop chipsets. Does the same apply to the mobile chipsets?

The USB 3.0 controller is typically the same in laptop or desktop.
So yes, its highly possible your laptop can have the USB3.0 freezing bug.

Freezing bug? Is that the same as the problem with waking from S3 sleep and needing to replug in USB 3.0 drives for them to work?
