USB 2.0

What is the deal with USB 2.0? I heard it was going to be on the i815E, but that didn't turn out to be true. I also heard it would be faster than SCSII and would eventually take over all interface forms. Everything from internal hdds to keyboards. Does anyone know what the status of it is? Is it really going to be this good? Is it going to be affordable? When will it come out? When will a chipset that supports it come out? When will devices and cables that support it come out? I want all the info you have. Thanks. 😛

USB2.0 is still in testing phase. I'm guessing it wil come out in 1 year? anyway, from what i remember, USB2.0 will have about 80mb/sec transfer rate and is still hot pluggable of course. its not going to take over internal stuff like HD or SCSI stuff. Don't know about price but hopefully cheap enough an alternative to firewire.

As far as I know, USB 2.0 is complete. Now its simply a matter of implementing it in Motherboards/Chipsets, which will probably take around 2 years, a general estimate I've been hearing lately..

USB 2.0 will extend the speed of the peripheral to PC connection from 12 Mbps on USB 1.1 to up to 480 Mbps on USB 2.0 - or 40 times over existing capabilities. The higher bandwidth will support the most demanding PC user applications, such as digital image creation and web publishing, where multiple high-speed peripherals will be running simultaneously.
