My USB 2.0 slot decided to go stupid on me. I have an IBM T40, and its a fully updated machine. The only problem is that it thinks the slot is USB 1.1 and that it can "operate faster". Does anyone know WHY this might have happened?

something similiar was happening to me with a USB 2.0 enclosure. See this thread.

Happens on multiple computers with the USB 2.0 ports work at the 480mbps speed with other devices.

what devices are you plugging in to it?

I've plugged in an external USB hard drive, cell phone, and a sony digital recorder. Now all the devices that I plug in say that the port is USB 1.1

I've tried reinstalling the drivers as well, but to no avail. Did you ever happen to get the problem resolved?

No, but my other devices still work fine, so I may have a defective enclosure.
