I am in the market for a usb enclosure for an hdd that I have and was wondering if I should go ahead with USB 2.0. How much of a difference would it made if I was just using the hard drive for mp3s? Do you guys think I should spend the extra money for a 2.0 laptop card?

Go for 2.0 because it'll only cost a bit more and you'll kick yourself later if you don't. File transfers will be significantly faster, even if you don't need that speed for playing the music. And who knows, you might want to store other things on there eventually.
 
Are there any particular enclosures that you guys recommend? Are there good ones that have usb 2.0 and firewire?

I can't tell you any in particular, but do your research as there are certain chipsets that are faster than others...
