Every time I use cdrecord it writes at 4x for CDRW or 6x for CDR, indicating that it is still using the usb 1.1 standard. This, however, seems contradictory to what /proc/bus/usb/devices says:

So ... Obviously the EHCI driver is loaded as well as the OHCI driver (because it's NEC). I've played around with it and it just doesn't seem to be working.

Now, the only things I can think of are that this media is not rated for anything faster than what it's writing but I find that hard to believe seeing as the speeds are coinciding directly with 1.1 standard.
