USB 2.0 question

I have an Asrock 939 Dual SATA mobo and it is not recognizing my USB ports as 2.0. I get a window when I plug in a USB device that says this device will run faster if I use a 2.0 enabled port then it gives a list of them but shouldn't it auto detect and assign the ports? The mobo has 2.0 ports on it and according to the Asrock support site I don't need to down load the 2.0 drivers if I'm using XP. Any suggestions on how to enable? I have checked the bios and USB 2.0 is enabled.

Did you originally install XP with a Service Pack 2 disk? If you didn't, you need to go into the device manager and update the drivers for your USB. All you need to do is right click on each, choose update, and let it install the newer drivers.
