USB 2.0 Problem/Question

I just put together a new system including an Epson scanner. Everything about the system claimed to support USB 2.0 but when I try to use the scanner I get a message saying "This device could run faster with a USB 2.0 host controller connected" or something to that effect. When I clicked on the USB 2.0 driver on the Asus utility CD I just got a message telling me the driver would be in the Windows XP Service Pack 1. I updated XP completely and don't see any problems that I can report. Anyone know what the deal is with this?

Isn't it amazing how the mind works?
Just posting this gave me a couple more ideas to look at. Five minutes more research in the right place and I discovered in order to have USB 2.0 support I had to see "Enhanced USB 2.0 controller" in Device Manager. Also looking at Device Manager with the scanner turned on gave me a yellow question mark over the USB host controller. I right clicked on this, chose "look for updated driver" and Windows XP did the rest. Problem solved! I don't why the USB 2.0 driver wasn't installed when I updated the Service Packs, all my hardware was connected, but it didn't. I guess there will always be mysteries with Windows.
Perhaps this will help someone else!!
